#Get Involved #StayConnected
COVID19 Message :Voice of the Child, Founder & CEO

The impact of the Covid19 pandemic is unprecedented. I extend Light & Love to you all and pray you all are keeping safe. The last few weeks have been incredibly challenging as the future and implications of Coronavirus remains unsettling for us all and the most vulnerable. For those children and young people who depend on the safety and support of our Child Contact Centre to stay connected with non-resident parents and significant family members, this is even more daunting. We understand that a disruption or loss of contact between a child and non-resident parent or significant family member indisputably has far reaching consequences for every child’s mental and emotional wellbeing across the lifespan.

As a Child Contact Centre charity, it’s been difficult to simultaneously determine our capacity to offer safe and effective services within the government’s COVID19 guidelines, whilst being concerned about the risks of unnecessary disruption to the positive attachment that separated children seek to develop or sustain healthy sense of self and relationships with non-resident parents and significant relatives they no longer live with. To maintain the highest levels of safety for all, through close collaboration and support from the regulatory body, National Association For Child Contact Centres ( NACCC), we have decided to suspend ( temporarily) all face to face Child Contact Services until further notified by government guidance.

While we recognise the significance of the COVID-19 ‘STAY AT HOME’ measures in slowing down the spread of Coronavirus, we are equally anxious that the dark side of ‘Social Isolation’ has huge emotional, psychological, mental health and life threatening consequences for vulnerable children and families as domestic violence incidents in the UK have been reported to increase dramatically, with the worst yet to come. Being isolated with an abuser is the most dreadful and life-threatening experience for anyone. Most importantly, we know that the worst thing for every child or young person, is being stuck at home, completely isolated from the world and entangled in a battle between warring parents .

As a consequence, we anticipate a significant increase in the demand for our early intervention Child Contact Centre Services post ‘ COVID19 - STAY AT HOME ‘ . We are currently experiencing a significant increase in referrals and inquiries for our Child Contact Centre Intervention Services to help parents experiencing acrimonious relationship breakdown to #Putting-Children-First-When-Parents-Part. That is, by therapeutically supporting and challenging parents to understand and prioritise the needs of their children, stay connected & involved in their lives post breakdown, through our Child Contact Centre transition plans.
We are the only Nationally Accredited Child Contact Centre within a 75 Mile radius of Reading, Berkshire which provides a range of Child Contact Intervention Services Six days a week and Nationally. As you can imagine, we are under enormous pressure to sustain the charity’s capacity during this Isolation period and to proactively equip our teams to deliver crucial services as soon as lockdown is over.

Despite the unprecedented COVID19 disruption, there are things that we are proactively doing remotely to ensure that our Child Contact Centre survives this pandemic and is better equipped to provide services to children and families:

⦁ We are currently offering a reduced service to stay connected with and collaborate with professionals and families to proactively support the needs of children from separating & separated families during this critical time and beyond. Our remote support line is available Monday to Friday 9am -12 noon only . Preferably, Please email us at admin@voiceofthechild.info or call us on 07462 200005.

⦁ We recognise the huge financial impact of COVID19 on the Charity’s sustainability and capacity to deliver crucial services as well as the financial implications for families needing our services beyond this pandemic. So, we are proactively setting up an emergency Appeal inviting celebrities and everyone to support us and children from separated families to “SAVE ‘The Voice of the Child- Child Contact Centre’ ” by raising money to support the Child Contact Centre Project / Organisational running cost.

⦁ We know that we cannot do this alone. So, we will be updating our website and social media channels with ideas and resources, along with other ways that you can get involved. We feel convicted that together, we will not only survive, but make a significant difference by putting a smile on the face of every child who would otherwise lose contact with a non-resident parent or family member.

“The needs of children are the heart of all our work”
